The economic crisis proved a major obstacle for consumers, enterprises and network builders, and each has had to evolve to survive. The changes from 2009 will create new opportunities in the Anywhere ecosystem, especially in the areas of cord-cutting, devices, cloud computing and network innovation.
Earlier today, I was joined by my colleagues Jon Paisner, Camille Mendler and Josh Holbrook to unveil Yankee Group’s top predictions for the 2010 communications industry. We discussed six of our eleven published predictions and took questions live from the audience. Check out the webinar replay below. You can also register as a Guest on the Yankee Group Web site to get the full report for free.
The webinar runs about an hour: audio (mp3) and slides (pdf).
Chris, I am the new CEO of the Rural Cellular Association located in Washington DC. I represednt about 90 Rural and Regionalcarriers with 160 venor supplier members. The Association sponsors a Business and Technical Conference each year – and I am looking for an expert speaker for the fall conference to focus on “Industry Pricing and Trends”. The Conference is on Oct. 13th in Myrtle Beach (10:30 – 11:30 Wednesday). We would hope to cover subsidizing, strategic plan, rate pricing and handset pricing – specifically —
· Trends you may see for voice, text and data plans – past and future – to help us position ourselves successfully for the future
· Usage based data rather than unlimited plans
· Attaching data plans to all phones, even the lower end ones
· Retail bundle pricing structure trends around smartphones
· A glimpse into the future regarding anticipated trends in revenues and costs for voice, data, roaming, SMS, MMS, off-portal content, equipment costs, etc.
· How will all of this affect Tier II and Tier III carriers
· Subsidies trends on phones, contract lengths and early termination fees
I have a lot of interest form teh Carrier members in these issues and thought this would be a good opportunity to give you exposure to RCA members and receive high quality information.
