Also, perhaps raising the bar on what's worthy of our attention can be a good thing. IMHO, watching less TV would be an example. As internet access becomes more pervasive on mobile devices in the U.S., then perhaps we'll be describing a higher degree of attention deficit. I think people's main objection is not to being connected all the time, but to OTHER people connecting electronically instead of paying attention to folks in the room. . . . as every parent of a teenager understands.
